Justice and Peace Group

The measure of the greatness of a society is found in the way it treats those most in need, those who have nothing apart from their poverty! Pope Francis

If you want peace, work for justice. Pope Paul VI

This group reflects on how awareness could be raised in the parish around justice and peace issues. It seeks to take some initiatives in the parish to promote the work of justice for all of God’s people.

The group organizes events to raise awareness in the parish of issues relating to justice, peace and equality. Over the years they have arranged for speakers with experience and expertise in this area to share with parishioners their vision for a more just and equitable society. They also organize a Christmas toy collection for children in refugee centres, a Sunday afternoon party for refugee families in the holding centre of Balseskin, as well as putting on a film before Christmas to raise money for Brother Kevin’s centre.

It is affiliated to Eco Congregation Ireland with a view to promoting a greener parish.

New members are most welcome.
