A small team of parishioners take up the collections at Mass. There isn’t a rota. They simply help at whatever Mass they happen to attend. There is no need to sign up to join this group. You can simply help any of the regular collectors at whatever Mass you are attending.
Two indoor collections are held at each Sunday Mass. The first is for the support of the priests of the Diocese, active, sick and retired. The proceeds go to the Common Fund of the Diocese from which all priests’ salaries are paid. The second collection is for Share, the Diocesan Development Fund, which helps to fund the various Diocesan offices and to support poorer parishes in the Diocese.
The collections are taken up while the Parish Notices are being read and are left into the Sacristy. At least two collectors are needed for each Mass.
